Abstract
The process of transformation of social capital of Russia rural communities is traced. The author proceeds from basic characteristics of half a century ago lifestyles and then analyzes contemporary peasant narratives. The conclusion on utter destruction of traditional rural existence forms and settings is drawn. The dominant features of contemporary rural life practices are deadening rationalization and pragmatic attitudes.
