Abstract
The aim of the article is an attempt to look at the history of Buddhism’s growth in the Inner Asia, employing a perspective different from that which has been commonly accepted in the domestic scholarship. This may help rethinking the essence of Tibet/Buryat relations at the present day. The article further touches on the current condition of the Tibetan community in Buryatia, which, despite its small scale, does play an important part in the sociocultural and religious space of the republic.
