Abstract
The article, which is produced to mark the 1600th anniversary of the remarkable Armenian historian Movses Khorenatsi, discusses historical-ethnographic sujets that are present in his major work on the History of Armenia, which is considered one of the landmarks of historical literary prose of the Christian East. The fifth-century historian embarked on an unprecedented mission for his own time - namely, to expound, by drawing on various sources, legends, and myths, a consistent view of his country's history from the origin of the Armenian people up to the middle of the fifth century. Furthermore, he saw it not as a history of an isolated country, but as a history connected to the development of both neighbor and faraway countries, of which he managed to tell us many valuable details.
