Abstract
The small anthropomorphic and zoomorphic fi gurines are a special feature of the Scythian-time assemblage from Knyshovskoe site in the basin of the river Psyol. The artifacts are connected with cult and utilitarian complexes - altars and pits in their vicinity and dwellings and pits for domestic usage. The assemblage comprises one anthropomorphic image; the zoomorphic images are horses, dogs, sheep and bulls. The animals in question were the most common object of sacrifi ce. The clay fi gurines are semantic equivalents of sacrifi ce connected with the cult of fertility and abundance of cattle.
