Аннотация

Продолжение исследований, ведущихся на так называемом Русском участке с 2010 г., позволили скорректировать дату начала функционирования гончарной мастерской, предварительно отнесенное к концу византийского периода. Керамический комплекс, выявленный в локусе 12 (квадрат 8), формирование которого также связано с деятельностью гончарной мастерской, кардинально отличается от комплексов из локусов омейядского времени. Совокупность находок позволила отнести его формирование и соответственно начало функционирования мастерской к VI (или даже второй половине VI) – первой половине VII в. Действовала она на протяжении всего омейядского периода, но с небольшим перерывом, вызванным скорее всего ее разрушением в результате землетрясения 659 г. Кроме того, раскопки, доведенные в 2017 г. до материка, продемонстрировали отсутствие более ранних слоев, т.е. мастерская была построена на прежде пустовавшей территории, а найденные на участке единичные фрагменты керамики конца IV–5 в. позволили сделать вывод о застройке прилегающей к мастерской территории в конце IV–5 в., когда Иерихон, представлявший собой агломерацию разновременных памятников, распложенных в разных точках долины р. Иордан, перемещается к центру современного города.
