Abstract

Review of the Book by J.M. Twenge: iGen: Why Today's Super-Connected Kids Are Growing Up Less Rebellious, More Tolerant, Less Happy – and Completely Unprepared for Adulthood – and What That Means for the Rest of U.S. Moscow: RIPOL classik, 2019, 406 p.

The review notes that the nature of the sociocultural transformations of modern American society analyzed by an authoritative American psychologist due to the processes of digitalization, intensified as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, is also relevant for other states and apparently has the character of a model common to post-industrial societies. The currently observed differences between motivation, social expectations, values and behavioral attitudes of representatives of generations X, Y, Z cause the need to rethink the state socioeconomic policy, as well as appropriate analysis and longterm forecasting of the consequences of the impact of digitalization and the development of network media on the sociopolitical and information security of society, as well as the level of consolidation of the national state.
