Abstract

The subject area within which this research was conducted is at the intersection of the art of the book and the area that can be defined as the science of reference books, considering the principles of compilation and methods of design of various reference manuals. The article takes into account some of the current trends in the industry. knowledge that is of decisive importance in the development of dictionaries of tomorrow: computerization, specialization, pragmatic expediency, cognitive approach in linguistics, social orientation of dictionaries, and others.
