Abstract
The article presents data on the aspirations of young people in relation to education and work, and attempts to predict the probability of their implementation. It is revealed that young people prefer entering higher education institutions to other variants of the educational trajectory, this applies to children from families with different socio-professional status of their parents. Young people choose education because they want to get a job that matches their interests and inclinations, high-paying, prestigious, so that it is easy to find a job in our country and become a competent employee. However, most of the students in grades 9 and 11 have not made a decision about their future profession or cannot explain their reasons for choosing it, some are not sure of the right choice. The authors do not share the opinion that young people behave irresponsibly when choosing their own future, but note the lack of proper links between the labor market and its human resources. Considering the opportunities of young people in realizing their aspirations leads to the conclusion that there is a stable differentiation in the field of education, defined as inequality of chances. The increase in the volume of scarce resources (the number of places in universities) increased the chances of “strong” groups first of all. With the tightening of labor market conditions, workers who have received pseudo-education will be replaced by qualified specialists. Differentiation in education will be even stronger than before in the labor market. In conclusion, attention is drawn to the fact that the aspiration of young people to educational institutions corresponds to global development trends, and their positive motivation to work is the key to progress and an important value component of social well-being.
