Abstract
The article is a reflection on the analysis of the role and significance of institutional matrices in the devlopment of modern societies. The author analyzes the possibilities and limitations of institutional analysis of the recent history of our country, proposed by S. G. Kirdina and opening up broad opportunities for diagnosing the challenges faced by Russian society. However, in extreme forms, it leads to sociological monism, which makes it difficult to understand the real causes that cause changes in the modern world.
