Abstract
Expert assessments of the state of public access to information about the work of state authorities and self-government of the Republic of Kazakhstan are given. Many aspects of ensuring access to such information are not spelled out in a specific law and are regulated by various regulations (by-laws). For this reason, in practice, there are many obstacles that do not allow citizens and civil associations to fully exercise their right to access information about the activities of state bodies. The measures necessary to ensure better access to information are proposed.
