Abstract
The "historical deadlock" is considered, that is the situation when, on the one hand, some or other society's societal and cultural resources do not provide the society with the potential to answer the historical challenges and to ensure its preservation and sometimes even directly block indispensable activities; while, on the other hand, the necessary changes would undermine the inner core of the respective culture and are possible only at the cost of the loss of the society and culture self-identity. The example of such deadlocks are given and the objective tragic nature of this unsolvable situation is demonstrated.
