Abstract
Specificity of military social work in Russia and the problems of its professionalization in the context of military reforms are considered. The analyzes is focused on the functional ambiguity of a social worker in a uniformed service, who is engaged both in control by authorities and in protection of personnel human rights. The author's argumentation is substantiated by the series of interview with servicemen.
