Abstract
The article discusses the part that the Inkeri newspaper played in the construction of identity of Ingrian Finns in the late 19 th - early 20 th centuries. The newspaper is shown as an edition that both catered to the informational needs of the Ingrians, and simultaneously shaped their notions of the self and others. The author examines the set of themes that made the newspaper influential, as well as the involvement of a number of important individuals in the development of the edition. The research is drawn on data obtained through the content analysis of the newspaper’s issues published in 1884-1905 and 1907-1917.
