Abstract
In various reports of the 2010 Osh conflict, there were registered cases of rape. Women were used as an instrument for revenge, power struggles, and punishment. In the context of age-long cultural traditions, sexual violence towards women also hurt the pride of men who were thought of as their defenders. Many parents had to marry off their daughters early and hastily out of the fear that they might be raped and the honor of their families thus might be in jeopardy. To avoid a chance of disgrace, they hurried to arrange marriage for their daughters and thus relay the responsibility for their well-being to their new husbands and families of those.
