- Abstract
- Despite the complicated ecological and social-economic situation, the Ivdel Mansi remain a stable local community grounded in the long-established identity scheme and traditional way of life under the condition of territorial and cultural closeness. Language was and remains one of the principal instruments preserving their culture as well. In order to solve the problem of this group’s survival, there is needed the shaping of a well-judged and positively oriented policy in the domain of ethnic development and ethnic relations in the region, which could be possible only if the ethnic potentialities, social initiative, and administrative will were mobilized.
