Abstract

На основе архивных источников проанализировано социалистическое реформирование жизненного уклада морских зверобоев Чукотки в первоначальный советский период (1923–1932 гг.). Прослежена местная вариативность преобразовательской деятельности советской администрации в зависимости от конкретных условий. Показана не получившая развитие попытка регионального руководства разделить “туземные” органы власти по этническому принципу. Установлено, что влияние экономики на социальную структуру оседлых аборигенов Чукотки в рассматриваемые годы шло вразрез с политическими ожиданиями советской власти. Проанализирована сложность ситуации, в которой в данный период оказалась советская администрация.
