- Abstract
- The article examines the notions that the Chinese traditionally used to define different childhood periods. Drawing on linguistic data, the author analyzes the structure of childhood and its ethnic and cultural characteristics, as well as the conceptual content of the childhood notion. The analysis demonstrates the ways in which changes in notions of childhood among the Chinese came to be reflected in the Chinese language.
