- Abstract
- The author, who has done extensive research on the life and career of prominent Russian/Soviet ethnographer B.O. Dolgigh, continues the exploration of his work through the historical context surrounding his peculiar path as a scholar. The article focuses on the period of Dolgigh's association with the Krasnoiarsk Museum, which for the first time rendered him the status of professional ethnographer. Even though Dolgigh published only three works during the seven years of his association with the museum, the unique field data he collected over the period, as the author argues, laid the groundwork for his subsequent bright ethnographic career in Moscow.
