Abstract
The article is written on the base of field data, gathered by the author in a number of expeditions among Altai Urianghas of the Western Mongolia in 1987-1989. It contains a detailed description of all wedding rituals, i.e.: rituals, preceding the wedding, such as betrothal, and negotiations, proper wedding rituals, such as preparation of a yurt for future spouses, meetings of the bride and the fiance with their friends, transportation of the bride to fiance's parents, first rites, performed by the bride in the new family, wedding feast and sporting contests, etc., and after-wedding rituals (visits of newly-weds to their parents and vice versa, symbolic gift exchange etc). The cycle contains many features, common for all Mongol people, bit it possesses also specific traits, observed only among Altai Urianghas, and they are particularly analyzed in the article.
