Abstract
First archaeological expeditions of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts were organized in the second half of 20-s of the 20th century at the initiative of L.P. Kharko, a Museum employee. The voluminous correspondence saved in his private fund refl ects the history of the excavations on the Taman Peninsula and the researches of the ancient Phanagoria, as well as the environment in which the native archaeology developed. The documents are being published for the fi rst time
