Abstract

The article is devoted to the unique fi nd of a walrus tusk from Rurik’s fortress. The object is outstanding due to both its age and the imagery. The incisions on the tusk, which include a triskelion, allow to conclude that their purpose was protective magic, and to class the fi nd among apotropaia.
