- Abstract
- Investigations of the upper occupation layer at the Late Paleolithic site of Kamennaya Balka II included a study of its position, analysis of the spatial distribution of the fl int fi nds and reconstruction of the natural environment at the time of deposition. The present article considers one of the aspects of the work, namely, spatial analysis. The site revealed clusters of fl int artifacts which showed testimony of primary fl aking of the stone material and of manufacturing tools from workpieces. The investigations have confi rmed that the upper occupation layer consists of the remains of a fairly large yet short-lived settlement.
