Abstract
The article is reviewed the monograph on the history of the organization and development of the system of national parks in the United States. The authors focus on the problem of the political and socio-cultural environment in which the first national parks were created. They analyze in detail the legal framework of their activities and organization of the National Park Service. The authors reveal the peculiarities of both natural parks and reserves, as well as a variety of historical sites using the large amount of factual material.
