Abstract
The article compares the motivation systems of students of military training centers, military departments and cadets of military schools. The author draws aconclusion about the marginal position of the former, which is expressed in the ambiguity of their status and being at the intersection of two cultures, which is manifested in a special perception of the values of military service, the prerequisites for choosing this form of training and the degree of involvement in the content of future professional activities.
